Liquid Delegation
Delegation allows you to entrust your vote to someone you trust, while retaining the ability to vote directly when you choose.
How Delegation Works
- You choose a delegate for a specific scope
- When a proposal matches that scope, your delegate votes for you
- You can always override by voting directly
- You can revoke delegation at any time
Delegation Scopes
Community-Wide
Your delegate votes on all proposals in a community.
Topic-Based
Your delegate only votes on proposals tagged with specific topics:
- Architecture
- Budget
- Policy
- Security
- etc.
Creating a Delegation
- Go to Settings → Delegations
- Click Add Delegation
- Select:
- The delegate (user you trust)
- The community
- The scope (all topics or specific topics)
- Confirm
Finding Delegates
Look for users who:
- Have a delegate profile with stated positions
- Are active and informed in the community
- Share your values on relevant topics
Delegate profiles show:
- Their voting policy
- Number of current delegators
- Topic expertise
Delegation Chains
Delegations can be transitive:
- You delegate to Alice
- Alice delegates to Bob
- Bob's vote counts for all three
Likwid detects and prevents cycles.
Transparency
All delegations are visible:
- See who delegates to whom
- Understand how votes flow
- Accountability is built-in
Revoking Delegation
- Go to Settings → Delegations
- Find the delegation to revoke
- Click Revoke
- The delegation ends immediately
Best Practices
- Delegate to active members who participate regularly
- Use topic-based delegation for specialized decisions
- Review your delegations periodically
- Vote directly on issues you care deeply about
